Ep 101. Prepisode for Acts Week 4: Getting ready for Paul's first missionary journey (Women's Bible Study)

Oh we've got such an interesting week of reading for our Acts Bible Study. We are in Acts Chapters 12-14.

Here are some things to think about as you read this week:

Acts 12 begins and ends with King Herod, He was an opponent of the church, and much like Saul, he was dealing violently and murderously with the disciples. How was Herod's motivation different from Saul's? What is the end result of that motivation?

In Acts 13-14, we're given the account of Paul's first missionary journey. As you read, take note of each new city Paul and Barnabas go to, and notice where they go first when they enter a city. What theme do you see emerging from this pattern?

In Acts 13:4-12, Paul and Barnabas encounter a Jewish false prophet named Bar-Jesus. What parallels do you see in his story and Paul's story? What is the outcome of that encounter?

What two elements do you notice in Paul's sermon in 13:16-41 that reflect how Peter preached at Pentecost?

As you read Acts 14, meditate on verse 22. How do you see this verse playing out in these three chapters we've read this week? How does this verse resonate with believers today?

I can't wait to talk about this first missionary journey with you. I hope you'll join me !
