Mark 14-16: The Reason He Came
"My sin, oh the joy of this glorious thought, my sin not in part but the whole, was nailed to the cross and I bear it no more, praise the Lord, praise the Lord, oh my soul."
I think this third verse of the old hymn "It is Well" is probably my favorite verse of all hymns written.
We come to the end of the gospel of Mark this week, and we see the result of our sin. Our sinless savior taking our place on the old rugged cross.
Along the way, we see the only two responses you can have to Christ....you are either his follower, or you are his enemy. And we see the value two people place on Christ Jesus. How much do you value Christ?
And we will see that even when we stumble and even fall, he doesn't cast his children aside, but he meets us. We are his.
Oh sisters, relish the story one more time before our attention gets taken with the coming Advent season. This the reason he came.
