We are winding down the book of Colossians in our Women's Bible Study, where this week in chapter three we are exhorted by Paul to seek Christ and set our minds of heavenly things. We learn about the "already but not yet" reality of this Christian life, as we are implored to be who we already are in the power of Christ.

Thursday Apr 11, 2024

In our Women's Bible Study this week, we are reading Colossians chapter 3, where Paul transitions from expounding on Supremacy of Christ, into what lives lived out of this knowledge should look like. He has told his readers in chapters 1 & 2 to "walk in a manner worthy of the Lord," and he has told them to "walk in [Christ]," and now he sets out to help his audience do just that. But it's not about a checklist....read chapter 3 with us and see it you can understand what Paul is teaching this young church, and even his readers  today.  Then join us next week as we work it all out in our big episode.

We mark the half way point in the short little book of Colossians this week in our Women's Bible Study. We learn what a miracle this little letter is in light of the history of Colossae. We talk about what keeps the Apostle Paul up at night. We hear Paul over and over again point us to the center of our life: Christ Jesus the Lord. In order to combat the deceit of the false teachers, Paul exhorts his readers to be rooted and grounded in the gospel of Christ which they were taught; he pleads with them not to turn away to some new teaching, even if it sounds reasonable, if it exalts anything above Christ, or makes anything equal to Christ. It's false doctrine and it's a delusion. Be aware!!

We're already almost half way through the book of Colossians in our Women's Bible Study.
It's a short read this week in Chapter 2, but it is jam packed with content! As you read, be on the lookout for those Christian Trifecta Character elements that Paul commends the Colossian believers for, and be looking for our key themes that we talked about last week (if you don't remember what any of these are, that's what you're here for...go ahead and listen and I'lll refresh your memory!). And finally, keep your eyes open for Paul's warnings against false teaching. Just like the ancient serpent, false teachers are crafty, and we must be on guard.
Enjoy this week, and I'll meet you right back here next week!

We begin a brand new study today at She Walks Worthy. This is our Women's Bible Study for the book of Colossians. It's a great week to join us as we are introduced this week to the author, the original audience, and why the book was written. Then we dive into the first chapter and we see the gospel already at work among these new believers, but Paul wants more for them. He wants them to grow into maturity in Christ. He wants them to see that Christ is worth growing into maturity for, because Christ  is the great mystery, once concealed, but now revealed: Christ in you, the hope of glory.

The day is here.  We start our brand-new Women's Bible Study on the book of Colossians. This episode will help get you ready to understand the context of the letter, and will give you some details to be looking for as you begin your reading.
I'll meet you right back here next week, and we will meet the believers from the little town of Colossae.
I love you. I'm praying for you. I hope you have a great week!

Y'all I know I'm a day late, and I'm sooooo sorry. I really thought I could get it done with a 12 hour recovery after my 17 hour flight...but the jet lag was real this time!
Anywhoooo, I hope you enjoy this Easter themed podcast all about the Resurrection of Christ and why it matters. As Paul explains in 1 Corinthians 15, the gospel isn't the gospel without the Resurrection. I really enjoyed digging in for this episode, and I loved putting it together for you. I pray that it blesses you.
Have a wonderful Easter weekend.
Up next, we study Colossians...stay tuned.

Now that we've completed the book of Genesis, what would you say the book of Genesis is about? Today in our Women's Bible Study we take a look at the "hidden" theme of this first book of the Bible. We cover pretty much the entire book in this one session, all the while looking for expectations of, shadows of and types of Christ. We look back at creation, the promised seed of woman, the first blood sacrifice. We move through the flood narrative and remember how Noah and his family were saved. We look at the promise that all the families of the earth will be blessed by Abraham, and who fulfills that promise. My personal favorite: Melchizidek (and why I think he's a type and not a Christophany). How many parallels can you find in the Sacrifice of Isaac story to the Christ story? We hear Jesus explain Jacob's ladder in his own words, then we we quickly look one last time at Joseph and Judah.
I hope this episode blesses you. It will be a good one to share with a friend because it's sort of a "stand alone" episode, so would you share it with someone this week?
Hey I love you, I'm praying for you, and I hope you have a great week!

Thursday Mar 14, 2024

So we're in a little transition for the next two weeks as we have officially completed our general study of the book of Genesis in our Women's Bible Study, but we're so close to Easter, and my trip out of the country, that I wanted to give us a few weeks to "relax" and get prepared for Easter, and really turn our hearts toward Christ.
So for now, we will spend one more week flipping through the pages of Genesis, specifically looking for the shadows of Christ. We touched on them as we went through the study, but I think when we lay them out side by side, and we examine them through other passages that help us understand what we are reading, it is so POWERFUL!
Here is how the reading breaks down for this week:
Day 1: chapter 1 and chapter 3
Day 2: chapters 6 & 7
Day 3: chapter 12:1-7;  17:1-8;  and 14:17-20
Day 4: chapter 22 and 28:10-17
Day 5: chapters 37 & 40
Day 6: chapters 43 & 44
Can't wait to meet you back here to look at these. I hope this blesses you and equips you to read and study your Bible in a deeper way.
I love you. I'm praying for you. I hope you have a great week!
