We tackle three chapters in the gospel of Mark this week, and we look at a very familiar parable of Jesus: the parable of the sower; and a couple of very familiar miracles of Jesus: calming the storm, casting out a demon named Legion, feeding the 5,000. We're jam packed this week as we continue to seek to walk worthy. We learn the importance of not giving up even when we don't understand perfectly. I'm so thankful for the patience of the Lord.

We are looking at Mark chapters 2-3 this week as Jesus settles into his Galilean Ministry. Mark presents us with a series of exchanges Jesus has as he begins building his kingdom. He is challenged 5 times in these two chapters by a group of scribes and Pharisees: His authority is challenged, his morality is called into question, his spiritual discipline of his disciples was tssk'd, his devotion to Sabbath is questioned, and he is accused of being in allegiance with the devil.
Even his family prove to misunderstand who he is and what he is doing.
Join us to see how it all turns out.

Hey!!! We're starting the gospel of Mark this week. It's a great time to join us! In this short prepisode, we orient ourselves to the gospel of Mark and learn some helpful background information, like who wrote the gospel of Mark, who was the original audience, and what is Mark's overall message in his gospel?
Then we talk about some of the features we can expect to see as we read this gospel, and end with some things to be looking for as you read the first chapter. Then we'll meet up next week to talk it all out. I can't wait!!

We are looking at Genesis 10-11 this week as we close out the first part of the Genesis story. Genesis 10 is commonly called the Table of Nations. We meet a lot of Israel's future enemies at this table. By taking the time to look at this section of the Bible, it will help us understand some of the relationships Israel has with these nations throughout the Old Testament.
We also finally (FINALLY!!) meet the man who will become Father Abraham. Could he also be the Seed of the Woman?
I tried really hard to make this list of genealogies not boring. Don't worry, we don't read all those names!!

As the Table of Nations is set before us, can you see the curse of Canaan taking shape? Are some of his descendants names familiar to you?
How about the line of Shem? Do you see how it is taking shape and how Noah's blessing is being fulfilled?
Do you see how the LORD's mandate of "be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth" is being realized as the population of the earth expands again, but our focus is becoming more narrow?
Spend some time at the Table of Nations this week and watch how the LORD will providentially see his plan fulfilled, even as humanity tries to do their own thing.
