Now that we've completed the book of Genesis, what would you say the book of Genesis is about? Today in our Women's Bible Study we take a look at the "hidden" theme of this first book of the Bible. We cover pretty much the entire book in this one session, all the while looking for expectations of, shadows of and types of Christ. We look back at creation, the promised seed of woman, the first blood sacrifice. We move through the flood narrative and remember how Noah and his family were saved. We look at the promise that all the families of the earth will be blessed by Abraham, and who fulfills that promise. My personal favorite: Melchizidek (and why I think he's a type and not a Christophany). How many parallels can you find in the Sacrifice of Isaac story to the Christ story? We hear Jesus explain Jacob's ladder in his own words, then we we quickly look one last time at Joseph and Judah.
I hope this episode blesses you. It will be a good one to share with a friend because it's sort of a "stand alone" episode, so would you share it with someone this week?
Hey I love you, I'm praying for you, and I hope you have a great week!

So we're in a little transition for the next two weeks as we have officially completed our general study of the book of Genesis in our Women's Bible Study, but we're so close to Easter, and my trip out of the country, that I wanted to give us a few weeks to "relax" and get prepared for Easter, and really turn our hearts toward Christ.
So for now, we will spend one more week flipping through the pages of Genesis, specifically looking for the shadows of Christ. We touched on them as we went through the study, but I think when we lay them out side by side, and we examine them through other passages that help us understand what we are reading, it is so POWERFUL!
Here is how the reading breaks down for this week:
Day 1: chapter 1 and chapter 3
Day 2: chapters 6 & 7
Day 3: chapter 12:1-7; 17:1-8; and 14:17-20
Day 4: chapter 22 and 28:10-17
Day 5: chapters 37 & 40
Day 6: chapters 43 & 44
Can't wait to meet you back here to look at these. I hope this blesses you and equips you to read and study your Bible in a deeper way.
I love you. I'm praying for you. I hope you have a great week!

Oh friends, what a big day here at She Walks Worthy in our Women's Bible Study as we wrap up the book of Genesis today with chapters 49-50. We say good-bye to Jacob/Israel as he is gathered up to his people, and we see Joseph's brothers FINALLY FINALLY seek forgiveness for their transgression from way back when. They finally lay that burden down. It is a beautiful and fitting ending to the beginning of the greatest story ever written.

We get ready to wrap up Genesis this week in our Women's Bible Study, with Jacob handing out blessings for each of his sons before he is gathered up to his people. Jacob's blessings are in the form of a poem, so he uses a lot of imagery and metaphor, but don't let that throw you for a loop. Take your time and read slowly, carefully AND repetitively, and see if some of the puzzle pieces won't fall into place for you. Then in chapter 50, we read about Jacob's final journey and "funeral" and we see how Joseph's brothers still carry the weight of their sin. Read along to see how Joseph puts it all into perspective and points us to the sovereignty of God.

This week in our Women's Bible Study, we prepare ourselves for the end of Jacob's life and the passing of the torch. We will see Joseph inherit the birthright (the firstborn inheritance), and Jacob adopts Joseph's two half-Egyptian sons as his own. We will finish out Genesis next week...you don't want to miss either episode!

We are getting so close to the end of our Genesis study in our Women's Bible Study. This week, we will read about Israel bringing all of his family down to Egypt to meet up with Joseph, the long-lost beloved son. We'll see how God continues to bless this family even though they are temporarily outside the borders of the promised land, and we'll see God use time and place to fulfill his good purposes for this people. We'll also get the full story about how Ephriam and Manassah came to be part of the twelve tribes of Israel, and how that fits into God's promise to Abraham. It was a stunning revelation to me when I learned it. I hope it's just as amazing for you. You can read all about these things and more in Genesis 46, 47 and 48 this week.

Oh y'all. We've got such a great Women's Bible Study this week as we get to sit in on the beautiful story of Joseph reuniting with his full brother Benjamin. Initially reluctant to let his youngest son travel to Egypt, Jacob comes to terms with the reality that this is the only way his family will survive...because "the man" insists on seeing the younger brother of the 10 who had visited before to purchase grain. We see how the Lord can really change hearts, we see leaders emerge, we see brothers caring for the life and welfare of one another, and we see the love a son has for a father. This week has it all: love, laughter, tears, blessing....and I am here for it! Won't you join me as we read Genesis 43-45?

In this week's Women's Bible Study for Genesis 43-45, we have all the makings for a modern day Family Reunion...all we need are t-shirts! We've got long distance travel, long lost brothers, hospitality gifts for the host, a banquet of food, an accusation of theft....wait a minute. How does that fit in a family reunion? Read Genesis 43-45 to find out!
This prepisode walks you through some questions to ponder as you read, and gets you ready for next week's discussion. We're almost to the end of Genesis. We are going to finish STRONG!

What a great episode we have this week in our Women's Bible Study. We're getting closer and closer to the end of Genesis and while last week, we laid the foundation for the story of Joseph, this week we begin to see the Joseph narrative really take shape. Joseph has a prison ministry of sorts, and he faithfully serves those put in his community. He catches the attention of Pharaoh, the king of Egypt, and this prisoner/slave impresses Pharaoh so much, he is elevated to second in command. He uses his gifts entrusted to him by the LORD to save not just Egypt, but also his real family and the rest of the world. We also see just how closely Joseph's life aligns with the Jesus' life. Now I want to be careful to point out that Joseph IS NOT Jesus. He's not the Messiah, but he points us toward the Messiah. We say that Joseph is a TYPE of Christ. Tune in as I point out some of these parallels, and also, we'll find a few Easter eggs hidden along the way, but you gotta pay close attention!!
